GPR

Ground penetrating radar (GPR) offers the means to detect embedded or hidden objects within the near subsurface.

This non-destructive method uses electromagnetic energy to detect reflected signals from subsurface structures. GPR can be used in various media, including concrete, brick, asphalt, and soil. GPR can detect objects, material changes, voids, and fractures.

GPR uses transmitting and receiving antennas. The transmitting antenna radiates short pulses of high-frequency (usually polarized) radio waves into the surface. When the wavelet hits an embedded object or a boundary with different dielectric constants, the receiving antenna records variations in the reflected return signal.

Applications for GPR

  • Post tensioned Slab On Grade (SOG)
  • Pan Decking
  • Structural Slabs
  • Structural Walls
  • Structural Beams And Columns
  • Concrete Masonry Unit Walls (CMU)
  • Precast Decks And Walls
  • Waffle Decks
  • Hollow Core Decks
  • Asphalt GPR
  • Storage Tank Location
  • Utility Locating
  • Drainfield

RainierGPR technicians use various technologies to ensure safety during your concrete drilling or sawing. They conduct thorough scanning to identify any impediments such as post tension cables, rebar, beams, and conduits. This allows for a clear layout of obstacles’ vertical and horizontal position, reducing the risk of accidents. Our scanning and imaging services are so versatile that we can conduct them on any surface you need. We’ve got you covered, whether it’s a concrete slab, wall, column, or beam. With RainierGPR, you can ensure that your concrete coring applications are carried out safely and precisely.

Structural imaging and analysis

At RainierGPR, ensuring safety and preventing injuries take precedence in all our services. The main objective of concrete scanning is to protect the structural stability and durability of the concrete, which ultimately ensures the safety of the entire structure. By identifying and labeling reinforcing steel components embedded within the concrete, we can provide guidance to concrete cutters and drillers, helping them avoid the steel and minimize the risk of injury. This process preserves the concrete’s integrity and safeguards the overall safety of the structure. We pay particular attention to post-tension cables under high tension levels. If accidentally cut, these cables could break through the concrete, injuring workers and compromising the structure’s integrity. Therefore, we take extra precautions to avoid such incidents and ensure that our client’s projects are completed without any accidents or damage to the structure. At RainierGPR, safety is not just a priority but at the core of everything we do.
